Drink more beer, they make you smart!

by on Apr.05, 2010, under Cool Stuff, Funny, Humor

Interesting things about beers.

A herd of buffaloes can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That’s why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

UniverCell and their contest for the Indian bloggers!

by on Mar.26, 2010, under Cool Stuff, Events, Gadgets, Indiblogger

UniverCell IndiBlogger Chennai meet was held last Saturday at GRT convention center and the more people than you know already know and already blogged / tweeted / buzzed etc about it. So instead of adding to the same thing I’m going to focus on the main purpose of that meet.

univercell-blog1

1) UniverCell as we know is the biggest mobile chain in India and they are expanding like a blob.

2) They want to connect with the community directly and be a part of the ever growing social media crowd.

Now there are lots o companies these day going the social media way to engage themselves with the community. And as for UniverCell is concerned, they are coming up with some serious plans for the community.

Now ever since the beginning days of blogging, bloggers evolved and there cam a time when people wanted to blog full time. People work, come back home and rant about their work on their blog! If they are happy then blog, if they are sad, they blog, if they had sex, they blog… my point is that people love blogging. So how good is it if you can be a full time blogger? You get paid to do what you love! Now that’s a dream job.

Ever since monetization of blogs cam into the scene, lots of companies started using bloggers to market their product. And as you might already know there are more than one ways to earn from your blog. Ads, guest posts, banners etc… Some (including me, briefly though) even fell for the concept of getting paid for each post where I write about something that I have never seen or used in my life, just because I can make $20 per post. Anoop used to call it spamming your own blog! Now why would you want to do that. I have written about holiday packages that I have not a single clue about. Anyway… but to be an official editor of a brand where you be the voice to the community and blog about what you actually love is something else!

Mobiles

Now that’s the opportunity that  UniverCell is providing to the bloggers across India. In the meet, they passed on 6 different models of mobiles and asked the bloggers to review the phones. And the best reviewer wins the opportunity to become the official full time blogger for UniverCell! Ain’t that sweet?

So I’m all geared up to choose one of these phones and review the hell out of it. Haven’t decided which one I’ll choose yet, but I’ve started my homework. Once you have written about it you can submit it at IndiVine for the UniverCell & Indiblogger team to judge. UniverCell has also started their own blog. We can keep a track of what they are into right there.

Kingfisher – Indiblogger meet @ Kyra Bangalore

by on Feb.25, 2010, under Bangalore, Cool Stuff, India, Indiblogger

Indiblogger successfully conducted its 1st kingfisher blogger meet in 2010 last Sunday. There were about 100 bloggers and we also had people coming from Kingfisher as well. Thanks a lot for Kingfisher for being the king of good times and enhancing the experience. And also thank you Kyra for the venue and the hospitality. Right from checking the place out a day before to thalping thulping screw it… drinking a few left over beers after the meet, Kyra was really kind and gave us a great hospitality. The meet started with the video of the Hitler’s parody and then the usual 30 secs of fame. Then live and let comment got every one off their ass and we had created some chart papers for people to comment on.

Next session was open discussion and this was the kick ass part of the blogger meet. For the first time in all the blogger meets, people actually debated to make a point that they all are blogging for passion and money only comes next. Now this i when you say that the Indian blogosphere is evolving and getting more mature. Getting on par with rest of the leading blogging countries like US and UK. there were a few IPL videos as well showed as we had to conclude the blogger meet exactly at 6.00 due to next program was about to begin in the next 1 hour.

Post the meet, the Inditeam went upstairs and downed a few KF beers and did a quick roundup on how the day had unfolded. And we have to say that we can do this a million times and still never get bored of it. And that i only because of the ever evolving community and its support.

You can find the pics and stuff in flickr and few other blogs by now.

One again, thanks a lot KF, Kyra and most of all all the bloggers for making it a grand success again!

December list

by on Dec.18, 2009, under Bangalore, Cool Stuff, Party

OK, I really wanted to write something as I haven’t posted in a long while. So I have decided to write about a few different things that I’m looking forward to do this month.. in no particular order.

1) Looking forward for the beach house party at Nagarcoil. Except for Anoop I believe the entire gang is gonna be available for a blast! (More on this later)

2) To watch Avatar in 3D. Couldn’t get tickets for today so hopefully after I come back from my very short vacation, I’ll watch it.

3) Prepare to clear my house at Bangalore and shift my base to Chennai – keeping in mind it has to be no longer than necessary (More on this later).

4) Watch Indiblogger logo advertised first time on TV! (More on this later)

5) Last but not least, bid goodbye to this year 2009 and pray that this year never comes back.

So these are things that I’ll be doing this December. Will get back with elaborate details on this as and when it happens. For now, I have satisfied my thought to post something on my blog.

Cheers!
