Next step of my Soul
by Karthik on Dec.11, 2007, under Cool Stuff, Creative
Came across this interesting poem written by a Persian Sufi mystic poet Jalal al-Din Muhammad Rumi.
I died as inanimate matter and arose a plant,
I died as a plant and rose again an animal.
I died as an animal and arose a man.
Why then should I fear to become less by dying?
I shall die once again as a man
To rise an angel perfect from head to foot!
Again when I suffer dissolution as an angel,
I shall become what passes the conception of man!
Let me then become non-existent, for non-existence
Sings to me in organ tones, ‘To him shall we return.’
These are words from his poem Masnavi.
Sirpamaana pendirenru – Aalavandhan
by Karthik on Nov.14, 2007, under Cool Stuff, Creative
Finally managed to get this poem from the movie Aalavandhan. Written by Vairamuthu…
Sirpamaana pendirenru thedi odum maanida;
(Hey! Man who’s running after a shaply woman)
Arpamana maadharodu aasai kolvathenada;
(Why do you desire a cheap woman)
Karpu onru-irukkudhoa;
(Has she got a thing called chastity?)
kaaval onru-irukkudhoa;
(Is there a security to it?)
karbamerum paiyanodu kavasamitirukkudhoa;
(The child inside, is it an armor for her.)
Yet another amazing set of words from Vairamuthu.

Song
by Karthik on Oct.02, 2007, under Cool Stuff
Was listening to a nice song and it had these lines in it. Simply nice and true!
….Udhattale kaadhal enum sollai
uraithale kooda varum thollai
Vazhum mattum, vizhigalin thookam kedum…
Meaning:
…. Even when you just say the word love
comes along the biggest trouble
Till you die, your eyes can’t sleep….
Good one…

Here is another Bharathi’s Poem. I love this song for its meaning… Got the right words for the meaning from couple of other sites…
Here goes the poem with the meaning…
Ninnai charanadainthen, kannamma
ninnai charanadainthen
{I surrender to thee, Kannamma
I surrender to thee}
Ponnai, Uyarvai, Pugalai virumbidum

{Gold, status, fame wished for
by me, the grief that engulfs because of these wishes, I cant stand grief, so …
I cant stand the grief that comes with my materialistic wishes, so …}
Ninnai charanadainthen, kannamma

kudimai pugunthana, kondr(u)avai pokkena
{Cowardice and fear spread in my heart and
make it their home. To let these perish.. }
Ninnai charanadainthen, kannamma

{I surrender to thee, Kannamma
I surrender to thee}

No despair and no defeats}
anbu neriyil arangal valarththida

{In order to encourage virtue through the path of love
In order to let goodness prevail and in order to drive away the evil}
Ninnai charanadainthen, kannamma

{I surrender to thee, Kannamma
I surrender to thee}
